2017 AGM at Douglas Park Golf club

The County AGM and presentation of prizes  was held on Wednesday 24th October at Douglas Park Golf Club.  Karen Maxwell ended her term as Captain, handing over to Ann Colthart.  The County Champion for 2017 is Jillian Farrell currently studying in America, with runner up Lorna McClymont.  The handicap Champion is Eleanor Starling (Balmore) with Runner up Janice Robertson (Clydebank and District). Junior Champion is Lorna McClymont (Milngavie)  and junior  handicap champion Lori McDonald (Cardross.)   Karen Haggerty  (Dumbarton) won the silver order of merit, while Joyce McGregor (Balmore) won the bronze.

Lorna wins West Girls Championship

Lorna McClymont won the West Girls Championship at Troon Portland, beating Susan Woodhouse ( East Kilbride) in the final which was played in very windy conditions. In the morning’s semi final Lorna beat county team mate Fiona Rattray.


The above competition was scheduled to be played at The Carrick today, Monday 3 October, 2017.    Unfortunately due to the extreme weather the course was closed today and the competition has been cancelled.   This competition will not be rescheduled this season.

Lorna McClymont has been selected for the Scottish team for the Schools International to be played against England at Troon Lochgreen  on Monday 11th September.

Junior Championship


Winner of the 2017 Argyll and Bute Claret Jug was Lorna McClymont with a scratch 73.  Runner up was Lori MacDonald who won the Cowan Cup

Milngavie golfer Lorna McClymont won the St. Andrews University Invitational tournament at the weekend. Playing the New Course, Strathtyrum and Jubilee courses she had rounds of 73, 70 and 75 for an aggregate 218  to give her a 4 shot victory over Susan Woodhouse, East Kilbride.


The draw for both the rescheduled Spring Meeting at Balmore Golf Club and the Triam at the Vale of Leven Golf Club have now been completed and are posted on the Competition Entry Page.

The rescheduled Jubilee Cups at Dougalton has now been reopened for entries.

Although the Triam entry has now been closed there are still spaces available and anyone interested please either email or phone the Ballot Secretary for inclusion.
